Situated in
the state of Himachal Pradesh is the village of Tosh. At a height of about 7874
ft. (2400 meters) all you can experience is the calmness, the serenity, the
essence of nature, and its astounding beauty.
Ways to reach Tosh:
Reach Joginder Nagar railway station and take a cab ride for around 6 hrs to reach Tosh (via Bhuntar, Jari, Kasol, Manikaran, etc).
Whatever mode is chosen for the travel, one has to reach Bhuntar (which is used as a gateway to the towns of Kullu, Manali, Kasol, Manikaran, etc) in either of these ways:
1. Bhuntar Airport (also known as Kullu Airport). Fly to Bhuntar.
Or
Take a bus from Delhi and get down at Bhuntar.
Or
Take a bus from Chandigarh and get down
at Bhuntar (trip time will be shorter than from Delhi by 3.5 -4 hrs).
2. From Bhuntar take an HRTC bus to Barshaini, which will go through Kasol and Manikaran.
There are options if you want a cab reserved for your whole trip, be it from Delhi, Chandigarh, or Bhuntar.
Tosh sits on a hilly terrain in Parvati Valley. Cab goes till the foot of the hill where the road ends. From there, cross a footbridge and enter the village.
Wooden
houses, smiling locals, friendly Himalayan dogs, Israeli and European backpackers,
are the usual things you will notice in the streets of Tosh.
The landscape changes depending on the time of the year. In winters it is mostly snow-covered. Other times of the year, you will get views of snow-capped mountain tops, endless Himalayan cedar (Deodar) trees with clouds hugging them, a wide range of colours in the trees, leaves, and exotic flowers.
Stay:
There are several campsites to choose from which offer organized stays.
Moreover, with the increase in the number of travelers, many homes have turned into guesthouses and offer a comfortable stay, awesome views, and excellent food.
There are cafes with Indian, Spanish, Israeli, and other dishes as well.
The food is a bit expensive but given the location and the logistical effort to get stuff up there, it is not too much.
To do:
It's all about the disconnect. Time off from the clamorous city life, Tosh gives you the perfect circumstance to dive into the serenity and recuperate the soul.
Trek through the village streets buying souvenirs, local clothing, etc.
